All Internet browsers allow users to view the source code of any of web page you are currently visit. By pressing Ctrl + U key combination and a new window or tab will open containing the current page’s source code. In more details:
Microsoft Internet Explorer
To view the source code of a web page in Microsoft Internet Explorer, follow the steps below:
- Press Ctrl + U on you computer’s keyboard.
or
- Open Internet Explorer and navigate to the webpage of your choice;
- Press the Alt key to bring up the browser’s menu bar;
- Select View, and Source.
Microsoft Edge
To view the source code of a web page in Microsoft Edge, follow the steps below:
- Open Microsoft edge and navigate to the webpage of your choice;
- Right click a blank part of the webpage and and select View source.
Mozilla Firefox
To view the source code of a web page in Mozilla Firefox, follow the steps below:
- Press Ctrl + U on you computer’s keyboard.
or
- Open Mozilla Firefox and navigate to the webpage of your choice;
- Press the Alt key to bring up the browser’s menu bar;
- Select Tools, Web Developer and then Page Source.
Google Chrome
To view the source code of a web page in Google Chrome, follow the steps below:
- Press Ctrl + U on you computer’s keyboard.
or
- Open Chrome and navigate the webpage of your choice;
- Right click a blank part of the webpage and and select View page source.
Apple Safari
To view the source code of a web page in Safari, follow the steps below:
- Press Command + Option + U on your keyboard.
or
- Open Safari and navigate to the webpage of your choice;
- Right click a blank part of the webpage and select Show page source.
Opera
To view the source code of a web page in Opera, follow the steps below:
- Press Ctrl + U on you computer’s keyboard.
or
- Open Opera and navigate to the webpage of your choice;
- Right click a blank part of the webpage and and select View page source.
Android phone running Chrome
To view the source code of a web page in your Android phone using Chrome, follow the steps below:
- Open the Google Chrome Internet browser on your Android phone and navigate to the webpage of your choice;
- Tap once in the address bar and then move your cursor to the front of the URL;
- Type view-source: and press Enter or Go (as an example, to view the source code for our home page you need to type: view-source:http://www.webitblog.com).
